After much of the past couple weeks being “blown out,” I fished the 4th weekend of January with disappointing results off the beach. Not planning on fishing on Monday, I ran a few errands and did a few chores. I had sand fleas at home that I wanted to rinse off, so after lunch I headed to the beach. The water was nice and the wind was calm on the cool overcast day, but mid-day was not my favorite especially on an outgoing tide. To my surprise, in a bit less than 3 hours I had a couple whiting and a limit of pompano, including one that was over 17″ to the fork! A few small sheephead and jacks plus the a nuisance stingray rounded out the afternoon… All I missed was a sunrise!
