snook fishing on the beach

We’re getting towards the end of pompano season for us here on the Brevard County beaches. Most pompano on our coast are being caught in larger numbers up in Jacksonville and down around Port St. Lucie. Although you might get lucky and catch a straggler! If you’re looking to target these fish and put some dinner on the table, the spoil islands and sandbars around Sebastian Inlet are also still holding pompano.

Anglers are still catching a variety of fish on the beaches. Redfish, bluefish, whiting, flounder, croakers, sheepshead, margates, snook and even few different species of sharks. Most common sharks on the beach right now being caught are bonnet heads, black tips and the Atlantic sharp nose shark.

The weather is heating up and I’m getting anxious for summer time!

Get your snook gear ready! We should start to see these fish school up close to the beach eating croakers and other bait fish right in the troughs. So stay tuned for next week’s report, I’ll be going over how to target these fish and what tackle you should use to help land yourself one of these trophy fish!

Thanks!
