Fun times during the short Red Snapper season!
We had some great tarpon action on the beaches around the bait pods. Went 4-10 one day on soft plastics and live bait and went 1-5 another day. Surprisingly, a lot of our fish are being caught on soft plastics over live bait. But, the nearshore bite isn’t just tarpon, there’s plenty of sharks, jacks and mackerel and a large number of sennets, which are a species often mistaken for Barracuda.
The Knott family had a couple great days Tarpon fishing.
Red Snapper season went well for us, too. The bite was pretty good, but the seas were a bit on the rough side. Along with red snapper, we got into some dolphin, kingfish and grouper.
