canaveral offshore - cobia fishing

This week, we broke out of the doldrums and finally got into some pretty awesome fishing! The water temperatures have been warming a bit, and as expected, the kings have showed up in good numbers, pretty much all over the place. The reef and ridge were both doing especially well, and we found spinning minnows to be an effective bait. In the mix of kingfish, there were also sailfish, Blackfins and Mahi.

The amberjack bite has been strong on the deep wrecks and 27, too. These reef donkeys have seemed to prefer larger baits lately. Meanwhile, the elusive red snapper continue to be a mainstay in these waters. You can’t keep them, but they’re eating ANYTHING, and the rod-bending action is keeping clients very happy; the same goes for nearshore shark fishing, which has also been really productive.

The ocean has been beautifully kind to us after a prolonged drought, but unfortunately, the winds are already howling ready to roll back in this week. Hopefully we’ll see some more great action once winds recede over the weekend.
