keys fishing

We got to fish in the keys last weekend and early this week and had some solid action on grouper, mutton snapper, hog snapper and yellowtail snapper — plus, feed the tarpon at Robbies and do a little bit of snorkeling.

We got back to the Space Coast in the middle to the end of the week and the fishing was pretty good inshore, and also in the inlet, when we could get in there. The snook and redfish bite in the inlet has been good, too. When it’s too rough to get outside on the tip of the jetty, the snook have been feeding on the shorelines around the T-dock and the north shoreline of the inlet. Inshore action has been good with live bait. Big trout, slot snook and some slot reds have been feeding along the mangroves. Meanwhile, school trout, jacks and ladyfish have been feeding well on artificial baits along the spoil islands and the mangrove shorelines. The bait schools have thinned a little, but there are still some pilchards around as well as glass minnows and small schools of mullet. We have been keying in on these areas that still holding the baitfish.
