09/28/18 – Got a chance to get wet from 5pm-7:30pm just North of the Wabasso Bridge. The bait, bite, and bugs were off the chain. Started off using white DOA paddle tails under the mangroves and around the mouths of openings. Small snook were impact striking under the mangroves and small reds were hitting slow up and down retrievals 6 to 8 feet out at the shadow line.

As the sun really started setting, switched to top water and it was on. Caught several nice snook out at the 6-8ft area were the reds had been hitting. I’m convinced that anyone using live mullet and/or live target at those shade lines is looking at a good time. Top water before sunglasses are needed in the morning and after in the evening will produce, but be patient as the jacks are also there and your speed of retrieval will also dictate your hook set numbers.

Bring repellent of every kind and/or bath yourself in some kind of fuel as the bugs will make you question your sanity as your reeling off in joy. Have fun and Hook Up!
