nearshore tarpon fishing

Jacob got a nice one!

Been a week of Beach fishing for me while Jesse has been offshore snapper fishing. Snapper bite was good for everyone but with the numbers of fish out there and calm seas, it’s bound to be good as long as the tempers don’t flare and people keep their cool. There are still some Tarpon, Snook, Sharks and Mackerel on the beach and the fishing has been decent still but slowed just a bit. Bait has moved on but if you know where to look, you can find and catch some good fish consistently. Live Greenies have been excellent bait but Hogy Eels and Rapala XRAP 14 have been good baits as well.

noah snook

Noah got a big snook on the beach!

The glass minnows are pushing in so the snook, tarpon and False Albacore will get on the glass minnows and feast. Tarpon are hard to entice with live baits as they are focused on easy meal of glass minnows, but the fly guys should do pretty well. We’ll have a few tricks up our sleeve for the glass minnow run and getting the tarpon to feed!
