beach snook

Ohhh man, where to begin… The bite on the beach is absolutely on FIRE right now and it’s an amazing time to get out for some surf fishing!????????????

Yaking in the Surf

Everything seems to be feeding on the beach, and for the more avid kayak anglers BIG tarpon, kingfish, cobia, sharks and bruiser jacks will put your tackle to the test and take you for a lil spin around lake Atlantic! Most anglers are getting the job done with a standard kingfish rig equipped with either a mullet or threadfin. Once you’re rigged and ready, look for the bait schools and fish busting or rolling out there, and you’ll find some action!

Other Species in the Surf

As most of you know by now, the snook bite is heating up the beach this week! Most fish are being caught on 40 lb Fluoro using a “knocker” style rig. Threadfins, mullet and croakers will be your best choice for live bait! Artificial choice is swim baits in the 4″ – 6″ range or spoons and wind cheaters! Try and fish early morning about an hour after sunrise and in the evening an hour before sunset. These times have tended to be most productive.

whiting bite remains strong

Whiting bite has continued to hold strong for us here along the beautiful Space Coast! A few other species being caught include flounder, pompano, jacks, croakers and ribbon fish! Most fish are biting on shrimp, Fishbites or clams.

Catch of a Lifetime

A close friend of mine just hooked into a Trophy Kingfish from the beach while trying to catch snook! The fish measured 56″ and weighed an estimated 35 lb! Unbelievable! Check out the full story on Spacefish, and again, congratulations to Brian Struttman in landing this fish of a lifetime!
