bass fishing report

When starting your day on the water, having a game plan will help you get off go a strong start in catching some fish. Water temperatures are closing in on the 90’s now, and just like it does with humans, our Florida bass react the with the same sluggish demeanor. A little bit of scouting and observation can help you overcome the summer heat to catch some fish. Always look for some kind of surface activity, or birds overhead, which can indicate a feeding-type of scenario.

My day always starts out with a topwater lure. Why? Because it’s just FUN catching them this way. I won’t spend more than the first hour of my day throwing topwater lures — unless the fish tell me not to stop. I then go to some kind of sub-surface type offering. You should always keep an arsenal of water level lures tied on to cover all depths until you find what they want to eat. Topwater, mid divers or swim baits, then bottom offerings, will all work. Remember to drink plenty of fluids if staying out after the noon time hours.
