Big game action along the nearshore waters is kicking in and should only get better over the next few weeks. Shark, jack, snook and tarpon are the main species we have been chasing on our recent trips. Most of these fish are hitting live or chunk baits. Pilchards, greenies and croakers are all good bait to use right now.

The shark action in particular has been really good with blacktip, spinner, black nose, fine tooth and bull sharks being the most common catches. Some of these sharks are running over 100 pounds. Wire leaders are definitely a must when rigging for sharks as the generally cut through even heavy mono leaders.

As we move into the month of May, more and more tarpon will appear along the coast. Captain Justin and I are really looking forward to getting our clients hooked up to a Silver King! Get in touch with us if you are interested in trying for some of these hard fighting game fish. We can be reached at www.captainjimross.com.
