Kevin and his wife Karen caught huge redfish in the lagoon as well as a few over slot and under slot snook and a bunch of jacks in the inlet with all of the heavy winds this week!
Another week of fronts and wind in the middle of May. We should be past this kind of weather and moving into our rainy season, but despite the winds, the fishing has been good in the lagoon and in the inlet — especially if you catch the tide right and have the right bait. Big snook, trout and redfish are in the lagoon and they’re hungry. If you can find bait pods around the docks and shorelines you should be able to find some decent fish. Live bait has been the key for us, but we caught a few redfish and snook on artificial baits, as well. Most of the fish we have caught in the inlet has been jacks but we got a few redfish in there, as well.
We’re catching lots of big jacks in the inlet.
Look for another week of high winds and rough water, but if you can find the bait, you should find some hungry fish.
