Indian river seatrout

Between the blood moon and low water levels, it seems we have had a few inconveniences this past week making for some challenging fishing! However, the inshore bite still seems to be steady. Trout, snook, and tarpon have been the name of the game and have been hanging around the same areas.

Dirty mangrove edges seem to be the key this week. Look for small baitfish from mullet and glass minnows to even small pogies. Top water plugs have been the best choice early. For me, the best performers have been small Rapala Skitterwalks and Zara Spooks with darker patterns. With higher sunlight or picky fish, go with live bait; mullet and pogies, when available, have been getting it done.
