It was another challenging week in the Grant area. The weather was rocky and you had to pick and choose your windows of opportunity. All of the rain has also messed with the salinity, which we check daily at our docks, and it has been unusually low.
Having said that, those who have fished made the best of the situation and had some good catches. Trout are thick schooling in the deeper pockets around the islands. The ones taken this week were healthy and fat. There were also good numbers of drum caught. Moving out toward the inlet, the salinity was better, and snook and reds were active on finger mullet and big pin fish.
We hear things are picking up in the surf and people are cleaning out our shop of our NATIVE SALT BAITS. Come on by and we will share our fish stories with you!
Great report. Interesting about the salt levels in the water. For whatever reason I never really thought about it, until I fished the West side of the river. I have always felt that the most fish were smaller up in those creeks than on the eastern side, and the tarpon are more abundant. Great report.
