snook fishing

A nice 30″ snook from one of the same spots last week

Due to school and sports, I can only get out once a week; twice if I’m lucky. Nevertheless, my dad and I still got on some fish this week. We ventured out in search of some whitebait and had no luck. Maybe the big temperature drop this week made them go deeper. Fortunately, we overloaded the livewell with mullet.

We fished the canals in Satellite and found some pockets holding schools of nice snook. Under docks, we found small slot size redfish and juvenile tarpon. All of these fish wanted the mullet, but none of them committed enough to allow us to set the hook. Mojarra or shrimp may have been eaten a little better. Hopefully next weekend we’ll have more luck and better pictures for the report. I would like to give a special thanks to Al at Man Overboard Bait and Tackle Shop for fixing my Penn Slammer after it took a swim with me for a giant redfish and also to Mr. Pullias for letting me write a report for Spacefish.
