beach shark fishing

As we hit the high temperatures of summer, the fishing has been pretty heating up in the surf, too! The whiting and croakers have been pretty consistent early mornings until around early mid day. When the suns at its peak, the bite will lull a bit, but tends to pick back up in the evenings.

Around the inlet area, some nice keeper snappers have started to show up. The bait of choice has been fresh dead shrimp, live sand fleas, and smaller finger mullet or small greenies.

This is also a great time to get on the larger bull and lemon sharks that are moving through the area to breed. Fresh bluefish, jacks, bonita and rays have bee the bait of choice for the sharks. Remember that you are required to take and pass the land based shark fishing course to participate in this fishery. And if you’re not sure of the type of shark, make sure it remains in the water and release as soon as possible.
