dolphin on maiden voyage

Dale Risker, of Micco, scored a nice dolphin on the maiden voyage of his new boat on Thursday!

The bite is on fire right now both inshore and offshore.

Dolphin are starting to appear east of Sebastian Inlet and it looks like they are the front runners for migration! The weeds are broken up out there and constantly having to clear clumps of weeds off baits is tedious, but the results are definitely worth it! We saw several good dolphin catches this week, such as the fish caught by Dale Risker, pictured above.

Inshore, bait fish are plentiful throughout the lagoon and it’s a smorgasbord of everything. It’s a great time to dust off the cast net or buy a new one to take advantage of the availability of free bait. Trout, black drum, snook, and big reds are all plentiful right now with sheepshead also starting to show up in larger numbers. Pompano and tripletail also remain pretty thick in the waters north of Grant. The live baits of choice right now are big shrimp and pin fish. Artificials producing consistent action are paddle tails of all colors. At the jetty, try hard baits of the old green bomber style.

Spring has sprung and fishing is HOT! Get out there and wet some lines!
