offshore fishing report

Out of Port Canaveral, fishing has been slow in the 80 ft region, so we have been pushing out and fishing deeper water. We have had some great catches of large vermillion snapper along with a few lane snapper and triggerfish. The sharpnose sharks have been ferocious, but as pesky as they can be, they are actually a very good eating shark and very sustainable. Keep your eye out for some cobia to show up and maybe even a mahi or black fin tuna to swim by the boat. Chicken rig fishing in the deeper water has been the best bet to capitalize on those vermillion snapper. The current has made it tough to fish, but if you are willing to work for it, you can put together a nice day.
