Sebastian inlet seatrout

Jeremy with a big trout.

We had some decent weather last week and the bite at Sebastian Inlet was still pretty good. The redfish and snook bite was good and the bait was plentiful. Lots of pinfish, pigfish and croakers have been present in the lagoon to catch on hook and line. If you’re into shark fishing, the beaches have also been loaded with Blacktip sharks feeding on bluefish and mackerel. Live baits or chunk baits work well, and as we get more schools moving in, we can catch the blacktips on top water, which is always a whole bunch of fun.

Sebastian Inlet snook fishing

Dave from Ohio got on a great Redfish, snook and jack nite and said it was the best day of fishing he’s ever had!

The big trout are feeding in the lagoon along the mangroves and schooling trout are thick in the lagoon around the deeper water bait schools. The gator trout bite is best with live bait, but we’ve been getting some mid 20” trout on soft plastics and top water baits. The snook and redfish bite is still decent and there are plenty of jacks marauding the bait schools as they roam the shorelines.

This weekends’ cold front should change up the fishing a bit. It should bring in some bluefish and mackerel and get the pompano and flounder moving in the inlet. It’s a good time for soft plastics rigged on 1/4-3/8 ounce jig heads in the lagoon and inlet.
