We’ve been having a lot of fun chasing bull sharks lately!

We hope everyone out there had a fantastic Easter celebration and hope you got to spend some time on the water, as well.

It’s been another great week of spring time fishing here at Fineline Fishing Charters. Captain Justin Ross has been putting his clients on small tarpon, ladyfish, and trout on most of his inshore outings. He’s been using a variety of things to get these fish to strike because it seems like they want something different every day. Live shrimp, Saltwater Assassin 3″ shad tails, and small silver spoons seem to be working best for the miniature silver kings and ladyfish, while Assassin 4″ paddle tails are the best producer for the trout. Rig these on a 1/16th to 1/8th ounce screw lock jig head.

Meanwhile, I’ve been chasing the bull sharks a lot with my customers lately. These fish are really fun to target on light “redfish sized” tackle. Most of these are baby bulls averaging 12 to 20 pounds, but a few are ranging up to 5 feet long and scaling into the 50 to 75-pound range. Cut baits are by far the best way to get the bull sharks to bite — and don’t forget to use some wire leader material.

Along the beaches, a mixed bag of bluefish, Spanish mackerel, snook, redfish, shark, and full sized tarpon can be found. Keep a variety of lures and baits available when fishing the near-shore waters because you never know what you will come across out there. Cobia have also been showing up lately so you just never know what you will get to bite.

You can book us directly on our Fineline Fishing Charters web site or call myself or captain Justin at 321-636-3728. We look forward to getting you out for some fun on the water real soon.
