Surf Report sponsored by Rigg’s Outpost

There has been a lot of grass and seaweed surf fishing over the last month. It is finally clearing, and the fish are showing up in full force. Fishing this month will only get better through the month of November as the water temperatures drop more fish will move in the area.

Surf fishing has picked up over the last few weeks with Pompano, Permit, Black drum, Red drum, Mutton snapper, Sheepshead, Whiting, Croaker, Spot and Bonnethead, Blacktip & Spinner Sharks biting. They are hitting Frisky Fins rattle rigs and jigs, Pompano Rich rigs and Sputniks tipped with Fishgum in any color. Salted clams, fresh dead shrimp or fresh crab knuckles tipped with Fishgum have also been a deadly combination catching all species of fish. Bluefish, Spanish mackerels and Crevalle jack have shown up on the beaches and the inlet and are biting top water plugs, Got-cha plugs, 1oz to 2oz spoon and goofy jigs. These fish are awesome fighters and great to cook on the grill.

Inlet fishing has been on fire the past few weeks. Snook, Black drum, Red drum, Flounder and Sheepshead are biting at the Port and the Inlet. The first few hours of the incoming tide have had the best bite. We have caught over a 150 Snook last week, but they will be heading South in the next month. They are biting live Croakers, big hand pick shrimp and Pinfish using a small split shot rig or egg sinker slip rig, either ¼ oz or smaller, 30 lb. fluorocarbon leader and a 3:5ot offset J hook. riggs outpost

In the Indian, Banana, St. John River, you can catch Snook along the docks and the mangrove using topwater plug, live Mullet or hand pick Shrimp. Tarpon, Red drum and Snook have been cruising the flats and in the pockets of the rivers and are biting on Mullet, Shrimp, paddle tail jigs and topwater plugs.
