winter tarpon

Winter Tarpon off the beach with Matt!

It’s been a great week of fishing off the beach since the winds have been down and the seas are calm. Plenty of bluefish, jacks and mackerel are eating out there along with some pompano mixed in as well as a few bonefish here and there, too. Sharks and tarpon are scattered and are feeding on the baitfish and mackerel and blues along the beach.

Inshore, the bite hasn’t been great for me over this last week. We are seeing plenty of snook but they haven’t been too hungry. Meanwhile, the inlet bite has been pretty good all week with plenty of redfish and snook along with some jacks and a lot of bluefish.

The weather looks to be pretty good again early in the week with the seas building mid week, but there should be plenty of opportunities in the inlet as well as the flats around the inlet for bluefish, pompano, jacks and mackerel. There will be plenty of trout and snook inshore, too — if you can get them to eat!
