The nearshore waters around Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral are holding a great variety of species this week. Spanish mackerel, jack, bluefish, redfish, snook, pompano, and more are hitting jigs tipped with shrimp. We have been using Hook Up lures and Saltwater Assassin pro elite model jigs. Chartreuse, orange, and pink have been the best color choices over the past 5 days. Most of these fish are holding near jetties, rocks, and the troughs just outside of the surf zone.
My son Captain Justin Ross has also been having a great bite this week on his excursions with clients. Right now is the time to go because the fish are definitely biting!!
