headwaters bass fishing

The bite has slowed down at Headwaters Lake, but we’re still finding some quality bass.

The last week or so on Headwaters hasn’t been like when it first opened. Blame it on the heat of summer or that maybe the angling pressure it received every day since the opening, but probably a little of both. Most of the fish average 1-3 pounds and then on occasion a respectable 6+ comes along. Last week the topwater bite was very slow to happen so throwing a soft plastic was the better choice to catch some fish.

With the seasonal changing of our weather patterns and Fall knocking on our doors, all will change soon. Water temperature readings have been anywhere from 85-92 degrees, everyone — including the fish — will welcome the soon to come cooler temperatures. The spawn will start to make the bass feel it’s TIME to do their thing and the weight of catches will start to increase.
