Things slowed down a bit recently due to hot, hot, HOT humid weather. I’m not sure if it is lethargy on the fish’s part or the anglers!

There’s lots of small tarpon are up the creeks. Even though they aren’t the huge guys, they still give a thrilling fight until you get them to the boat!

Offshore the weeds remain a nightmare. If you have the patience to keep your baits clean, you can catch some nice fish, but the patience to be diligent is key.

The inlet is holding some nice snook, also big reds, but they are picky eaters right now, and live fish seems to be all they want.

In the lagoon around Grant, there are decent trout along the docks, and also near any grass, if you can find it. Paddle tails are still doing well, but of course, live shrimp are everyone’s “go to” when things slow up a bit. Surprising for this time of year, but flounder still here! Anglers are mainly catching smaller-sized fish, but apparently smaller shrimp is working well.

A couple of my regulars know where there are big drum, but even after twisting their arms, they would not tell exact location. But the hints put them near Rocky Point.

Congratulations to all winners of CFSO. Some of my locals were winners! Brandon Braun, and Dustin Jones, both I have known since they were tiny tots! That makes me pretty old…. But I am very proud of both of them!
