Well, it was kind of a slow and frustrating week! Inshore, it was so hot that it was uncomfortable just to be out there. Those willing were rewarded with some pompano near the inlet and a few trout and sheepshead along the lagoon’s docks. Everyone mourns the closing of snook season, and naturally, they started biting immediately upon closure!
The weeds offshore are possibly the worst EVER. It is killing trolling as baits are fouled as soon as they hit the water. When wind is out of the east, as it was most of week, beach and surf fishing are also a chore to keep bait clear. Only the most attentive anglers have had any success.
On a final note, the Bluewater Open tournament was this weekend. It was tough fishing for all the reasons already mentioned, and winning fish were hard fought. But, the Treasure Coast Marina sponsored boat, “Risky Business” won 3rd Place Dolphin on their first tournament outing on this newly refitted boat. We are very proud of them!
