bass fishing report

The Bass bite is strong and the fish are on bedding. We are seeing tons of beds and, although all the beds are not occupied, they are clean and being attended to. Here are the lures we are finding the most success with right now.

  • The topwater bite has been strong, and we’ve been capitalizing with a “TopToads” by Stanley Lures and Spro-frogs. These lures seem to get the best strikes when you are bringing them through the pads and shallows. At the moment, the bigger bass seem to like the frogs on the pause and let it sit for 10-15 seconds before moving it again.
  • Wacky rigged black with a blue tip “Fat-Ace” by Gambler lures, pitched on bedding bass will always produce the bites. Try throwing it around pads and isolated vegetation, too.
  • Gambler lures Ez-Swimmer in lane toad and copperfield is also working well. We throw this swim bait to cover lots of water and to locate the bite. Then we Powerpole down and pick off all of the fish in that spot and move to the next area.
