snook fishing

Snook fishing on the Space Coast couldn’t be much better! This week, and throughout the entire last few months, the snook fishing has been incredible. Good numbers and good size fish, at that. Over the last few years, the snook fishing has really improved more and more!

This week, sight fishing mangrove shorelines and fishing around pods of black mullet were the pattern, and even glass minnows around docks seem to have a lot of the linesiders lurking near by! Early morning throwing topwater plugs just blind casting around black mullet produced very good numbers, too. I personally like throwing the small 3.5 inch Rapala Skitterwalk; a slow sweep of the rod creating the walk the dog style motion is irresistible! Between 10-1 when the sun is at its highest I prefer to avoid blind casting and specifically sight fish, looking for cruising or laid up fish tight along mangrove banks with any sort of dead sticks, or debris. My go to soft plastic when these opportunities present themselves is a Mission Fishn 1/8 oz jighead and a Mirrolure golden bream lil john, with a good 1-2 foot lead and a short twitch the snook really find these baits irresistible!

With the warmer weather approaching I can’t help but get excited about the snook fishing in the next few weeks and months to come.
