the great surf fishing run continues!

I hope everyone is out there taking advantage of the beach fishing we been having the past month!

The fish are here and same with the sharks! It’s always a blast! A favorite past childhood memory of mine is paddling out my 9/0 Penn Senator with a shark bait on a borrowed kayak 100yds off the beach and dropping it with a break away weight. My friends and I would be waiting to hear the drag start screaming like a jet engine!

shark fishing on the beach

Targeting sharks from the beach can be a lot of fun, but you should always pay attention and be careful. I advise against shark fishing at a crowded public beach and would recommend booking a guide like myself to help you land the big one.

monster snook in the surf

Snoook, snook and YES — More snook!

I know anglers are catching these MONSTER linesiders on pilchard, mullet — or my bait of choice — croakers! Bait shops don’t always have these baits on hand so it’s always good to learn how to catch bait for yourself. You can head into Strike Zone Melbourne or your local tackle shop and pick yourself up a couple “Croaker Riggs by Couture.”

croaker riggs

Try Croaker Riggs by Couture to catch yourself some prime snook bait!

Tip these rigs with a small peeled shrimp about the size of your fingernail and cast out in the first trough. Sometimes you have to move to different beaches to find these baits, but having them can make all the difference of hooking up or not! Fish from first light till about noon, then the bite shuts off and then picks back up after 3pm. Remember, these fish are out of season and most are over slot, so please make sure these big females are safely revived and swim away with a fighting chance so we can enjoy to catch them time and time again when summer comes to greet us!

beach variety

Whiting, Jacks, Mackerel, blue fish, Sennets and Bonnetheads — oh my!

Plenty of players on the beach are being caught on clam, shrimp, fleas and Fishbites! The bite has been better at first light and a couple hours before sunset, although anglers are catching fish all day! If you’re looking for somewhere to burn a lil energy with the kiddos and get them away from the electronics, this is an awesome way to do it! Let them get some sand in their heads and shoot you a huge smile while reeling in a fish! If you’re a single mother who is looking to do something outside with the kids for summer this is a perfect idea that’ll have them talking about it the rest of the week! You can enjoy the sun rays while the kids and I fish — or Mom can even join in on the fun! If you’re interested in info/rates or want to book a charter, my information is posted below this report. Thank You.
