3 forks fishing

Low water conditions are here until our summer rains kick in on my neighboring ponds. Garcia is starting to grass up pretty thick in the shallow areas but the NW flats are okay at this time. I fished the open water throwing a Rattlin Vibe and picked up several fish this way. Earlier in the morning, the bass were schooling up on the bait fish, which is always a great time to be in the area to sling a lipless crankbait for the bite.

3 Forks is way low right now, so smaller boats have the advantage in getting to areas easier. The day I was out, it was pretty slow of a bite, but the variety of fish caught wasn’t. Bass, bluegill, rock bass and another cichlid were brought into the boat. We switched up from throwing topwater lures to beetle spins. The ramps and parking area for Stickmarsh will be closed for the week for repair, so if you’re heading there, your better chance is to go to Headwaters.
