sailfish

A beauty caught with Sea Leveler Sport Fishing Charters over the weekend.

This week has been good offshore overall. The kingfish bite has been nothing short of fantastic on the reefs. In addition, there have been a number of quality bottom fish coming from the same areas. Big triggerfish, vermillion, lane and mangrove snapper, as well as porgies, all have been making for healthy coolers of fish — and great table fare too! The grouper bite was solid this week as well. Big live baits seemed to work best.

Let’s talk dolphin! That’s right, plenty of dolphin were caught this week. Reports from 120’ out to 250’ seemed to be a common theme. Most fish caught were average-sized fish, ranging 5 to 15 pounds; so smaller baits have been the way to go. Don’t be surprised if you lock horns with an acrobatic sailfish while targeting dolphin and kings right now.

mangrove snapper

The Ocean Obsession pulled in an impressive bounty on their Full Moon Mangrove Snapper Trip.

With the full moon this past week, the nighttime mangrove snapper bite was on fire! The Ocean Obsession which runs out of Sunrise Marina had a full pull of quality fish with several being over 10 pounds. That’s a STUD mangrove! Their next Full Moon trip is scheduled for June 22nd, get in on that!
