The first open weekend of the Atlantic red snapper season is in the books and it was a really good one for us here at Fineline Fishing Charters. We ran charters out of Port Canaveral each day and got our customers their limit on each trip. Most of these fish are 12 to 18 pounds but we did have fish well into the 20 pound range as well. Cut sardines were our go to bait and the majority of our snapper were caught in less than 80 feet of water. We also landed some nice mangrove snapper and king mackerel on the same structure all three days as well. We are looking forward to getting out on the last weekend of this season, August 17, 18 & 19 to repeat the success we had this past weekend.
