Fishing has been great on the Space Coast this week! Even with the few windy and chilly days, the fishing has been pretty good, both inshore and nearshore have had plenty of good opportunities.

Inshore, the speckled trout bite has been phenomenal. Fish from 15-25 inches have been biting artificial actively and with consistency. Small paddle tails such as D.O.A. and Gulp jerkshads — both in pearl are the hot ticket! Anglers can find these fish in about 3 feet of water on the deeper edge of mangrove shorelines and spoil islands.

Nearshore, the pompano bite has finally been getting good! Drifting the surface while casting small 3/4 oz banana jigs and small buck tails tipped with either shrimp or sand fleas has been working pretty good. To narrow your search on the beach, look for areas with slightly cleaner water, which pompano tend to prefer. The more blue the better!

The bite should only improve as we finally get into a stable weather pattern! Good luck to all!
