cape canaveral tilefish trips

If this past weekend was sure fire sign that it is not good to be the slow big boy in a social media word. What I mean by that is, it was hard to find a spot to fish within range for the big Ocean Obsession II, especially on half days. We always practice good etiquette that the first person fishing a spot gets it, but man would it have been nice to implement the big boat rule ;-).

I expect Friday to be the same but our midnight run Thursday and evening run Friday should produce limits of nice size fish just like this past weekend did. The experienced anglers fishing live baits most definitely put the quality fish in the boat. We probably had 100 or so fish over 10lbs and the largest one we caught was just over 20lbs. The strategy for us will be to go to the volume spots where all the natural chum of 60 lines hitting the bottom will fire up the snapper and our customers can choose to keep a little one or toss it back in hopes of the big boy. Live bait, 9/0 hook and 80lb fluorocarbon might just give you a edge if you plan on joining us on any of the 3 trips we are managing on the last day. The midnight run on Thursday is a especially cool trip. We came up with the idea and others followed suit because it was so cool. We leave at 6pm on Thursday and return around 3am on Friday. We will only keep red snapper after midnight but before that we will try for mangroves. We limited the boat to half capacity so plenty of elbow room.

We look forward to another great weekend. If the craziness of the red snapper dates is not your thing, the crowds go way down on all our other full day trips so it is a perfect time to enjoy the day and do some killer mangrove snapper fishing.
