bluegill

Our rains from Tropical storm Cristobal dropped several inches into our waterways this past week. I didn’t get out on the boat but managed to hit my local retention pond between downpours for a few bass. We had our full moon this past Friday, but we couldn’t see anything but cloud cover. Today was the first day of sunshine.

Now that we are into the summertime heat, the better fishing times are early dawn up until maybe 10am then later in the day a few hours before dark. The bluegill will be in full spawn and full moons and new moons are prime time for bedding activity. If those little fellas aren’t your thing and you just have bass on your mind, work the waters around the bedding areas, the bass won’t be too far away. Always look for moving water now that the rains are filling up our waters as well.
