David cobia

David caught a nice cobia outside of the inlet.

Last week was a slow start for us with the high pressure and bright skies, but it turned out pretty good. We fished inshore early in the week when the choppy seas made customers sea sick. The inlet bite started slow for us, but we managed a bunch of jacks and a few redfish. By week’s end, the snook bite got pretty good for most of the anglers.

We also got in some nearshore reef action with Kingfish, mangrove snapper, cobia and triggerfish. Pretty steady action offshore for sure, despite the colder temps.

I’m excited to see how this rain helps the bite in the lagoon. Should make the water a little dirtier and make it tougher for the fish to see the boat and anglers. The rain should also get the bait moving out of the creeks and impoundments into the lagoon and help quite a bit!
