surf fishing report

Shark fishing in the surf c continues to consistently produce some rod-bending good times.

Much like last week, the beach is loaded with sand fleas, while pods of mullets also remain pretty thick in the surf. The whiting bite has been on fire along with the bluefish, jacks and Spanish mackerel. All of these species have been holding tight to the beach and the bait pods. Pompano are out there, too, but in much deeper water. If you’re targeting them, you better have some pretty good distance on your cast.

Along with all the normal targets, my personal favorite — sharks — have also provided a hot bite in the surf. On Friday night, I took a couple coworkers out and we had a great night on the water while landing 3 out of the 5 shark hookups we got. The highlight for me was being able to introduce the next generation to the sport of land-based shark fishing!
