Hit Satellite this morning. Sure has changed. All the fine beach sand is now in the water. My kid and I walked what seemed like a quarter mile into the ocean. Felt like Jesus walking on water LOL We sure must’ve looked funny to the people on the beach.
Figuring out how to fish it was wild. Really challenging. It sucked for about two hours and then I hit THE SPOT and cranked out a 16” black drum. Next cast, same exact spot, my first redfish, 18”. Just in the slot. There was a good beat coming from my cooler.
Everything died after that. Shout out to man overboard for my pomp rigs that always catch something and the fresh dead. They did the trick.
That’s awesome!
Thanks man!
I’m curious how the newly created “sand flats” are going to change things as far as species, and for how long it’ll remain that way. Definitely going to be interesting to watch over the coming weeks…..
I should have added too that finding fleas was next to impossible. They did not seem to like the more grainy, rocky, shell strewn shore.
I was out Saturday on the kayak at dawn to take advantage of the conditions. Not much biting near shore for me at all. I knew the fish were there as I would occasionally spook a tarpon as I paddled within a few feet of them. Tried casting topwater and slow trolling croakers up and down several miles and then out two miles attempting to find clear water. No dice. Paddled back to the beach to try some fishing from the shore for snook. The only snook I landed was a short 14″ that I cast-netted while searching for bait. Even the bait was sparse as I would only get six or seven greenies at a time in the 12′ net. Hopefully the water settles back down and the fishing sparks back up.
