bluegill

I stayed close to home this week and only fished Three Forks. The area we have been fishing doesn’t have the big fish that everyone is so hung up on; but, we do catch good numbers of bass along with some fun crappie and bluegill action. The best way for bites is to scale down your lure size. Smaller presentations seem to work best. Tiny Torpedoes, small poppers, Beetle Spins and small crankbaits will get you bit.

We need to get those summer rain patterns to kick in as water levels are getting lower and lower. Along with that, the water temperatures are in the mid to high 80’s as well. Start out your days at the “O-Dark Thirty” times for a topwater bite, and then, as the ball of heat gets higher in the sky, scale down to the smaller subsurface lures to keep the bite going.
