I only got out on the water two times last week. Once again, my time has been spent fishing and learning the 3 Forks watershed area. I know the new Headwaters is not far away, but the long dusty road keeps me away.

I mainly have been throwing my 5wt fly rod and having a lot of fun with smaller bass and a lot of big and fat bluegill. As summer sets in and the water temperatures get hotter and hotter, my focus is topwater flies or plugs. We fished some deeper water areas and did manage to find some respectable Specks throwing a YO Zuri 3DS suspending jerk bait. Once the bite shuts off which is around the 11 am time we usually call it a day. We have a full moon this week and the bluegill will be spawning on it and again on the next new moon, as well.

All in all, fishing has been good if you’re able to start the mornings at Zero dark thirty and finish at 10 or 11. This will continue to be the case until we move closer to Fall.
