canaveral deep sea bluefin tuna

Unfortunately, we have seen a drastic change in the bottom over our last couple of trips. We hope it is just a funky current causing the slow fishing and not thermo-cline conditions already. Nothing is coming up cold and there’s really no indicators of thermo-cline other than slow fishing. It hasn’t necessarily been a complete shutdown, though. We have still been catching some nice mangrove snappers for those who can lighten up their tackle and make the switch to fluoro. We have also caught a few real nice cobia coming up off the bottom with the sharks, so make sure you are ready for them. There’s been a steady pick of king mackerel and an occasional black-fin tuna in the mix for those that reserve the stern and know how to float line. If you are patient and fish nothing but big baits all day and capitalize when you get your shot, we have had a couple nice grouper, but overall, few and far in-between.
