smoker kingfish

Drake Daly with a smoker he caught just off the beach on a filet show charter.

This one was a tough week of offshore fishing out of Sebastian. We had dirty water and lots of current along the 60-90 foot reefs. The mangrove snapper bite slowed after the full moon but should pick back up this week approaching the new moon as long as the water quality gets better.

The deeper water may have been brown this week but the water from the inlet out to about 7 miles was Crystal clear and blue. The clean water with tons of flying fish and weed mats brought the pelagics within a few miles of the beach. Numerous boats reported multiple dolphin and sailfish catches within five miles of shore. The kingfish have also provided steady action around the pods of bait just outside the inlet. Slow trolling threadfins and blue runners on wire has been the most efficient method to target these toothy critters. Get out there and have fun this week!
