Hopefully we’re moving past this recent bout of nasty weather. I don’t like to see activity in tropics this early, but it did make for some interesting fishing!

Offshore has been barely fishable due to huge weed patches. If you could keep baits clean there were some dolphin and kings out there, but we’re still not seeing the migratory stuff yet and it’s a little late in the game this season. Hopefully it will turn on for the big tournament this weekend.

Inshore there are lots of ladyfish and jacks. Fun to catch but not exactly plate-able, at least not for me! The trout bite is still strong and we’re seeing some drum and sheepshead hanging around anything with barnacles on it. Try the native salt sandfleas. We are getting good reports on those.

Surf fishing just north of the inlet has been very slow. Waves are breaking hard and anglers are just not catching much. Hopefully the weather calms down and conditions improve on the beach this week.

Good luck to everyone fishing the tournament!
