Hit the surf yesterday about a mile north of Sebastian. NOTHING. Nobody was getting literally anything. Big snook cruising but no hits. Water was crystal clear and weed free.
Today I hit Satellite and the bite was good. Two keeper drum, some jacks, the usual margate and croaker for bait. Snook all around but also not hungry. Everything stopped as high tide leveled, and the weeds returned with it.
Nice, thanks for the report!
I should have added both of my drum had some kind of issue. One had some red grime on his tail and it looked like some of the tail was actually gone, like it was rotting with the red stuff. The other drum had the red stuff too but in more minor form on his pec fins. Anyone know what that red junk is?
My big snook and a friend’s redfish had it too. I believe it was a porpoise or shark attack that has heeled up. It could be a water quality issue from another part of the state or cruise ship/dredging pollution locally. Try a variety of live baits for those snook. My favorites in order from highest down would be pogies, croakers, and mullet.
