Tampa Bay area fishing guide. I've lived most of my life in SW FL and love the versatility of fishing Tampa Bay. The flats fishing is excellent for snook, redfish, tripletail and trout while the deeper waters within the bay are home to healthy mangrove snapper and grouper.
The red tide in Tampa Bay is beginning to diminish with lower levels below 1,000 ppm in several samples. The full moon mangrove snapper bite has been outstanding. Fishing rock piles or channel ledges with […]
The fishing has still been good despite the Red Tide. The snook and redfish are active in the shallow mangroves, while trout and in the shallow open water on live greenbacks or shrimp. The mangrove […]
2/20/21 The wind was wild and the bay was 3.9′ We started out in the little Manatee River catching black drum and snook. After 2 hours the wind slowed down and we decided to head out into the bay for mangrove snapper. The wave height was 3′ with a few 5′ swells as we made our short run. The action was non stop fish were biting live greenbacks, shrimp pieces and cut threadfins. We barely had time to close the bail before the bite. We fished an hour and a half and finished with a nice box. Book a trip to experience the fun. 865-363-1388
The mangrove snapper bite is heating up. Fishing deep bridge pilings and rocks have held many snapper, sheepshead and grunts. Dropping knocker rigs or hog ball type jigs from 3/8 to 1 oz depending on current and tipped with medium sized shrimp or live greenbacks will fill a cooler fast. Snook, trout and redfish are still fun to play with as season remains closed. Contact me to book a trip.
