The 65 foot Ocean Obsession Party Fishing Boat is air conditioned and immaculate. A full galley with hot food, cold beer, and sodas. We go deeper and get there faster. We take pride in what we do and it shows. Come see for yourself!
Our last report seemed as if the fishing was starting to slow way down and get into that Summer lull that we typically see when thermo-cline conditions start to creep in. We are very happy to see that was just a off week. The fishing this past week or so has been phenomenal.
Unfortunately, we have seen a drastic change in the bottom over our last couple of trips. We hope it is just a funky current causing the slow fishing and not thermo-cline conditions already. Nothing is coming up cold and there’s really no indicators of thermo-cline other than slow fishing.
This past week the fishing on the main reefs 100ft or less has been really good. We have been seeing a lot of mangrove snapper and some really nice mutton snappers up to 10 pounds. A few red and grey grouper in the mix but the current has been raging pretty good outside of a 100ft so we have continued to focus our effort a little shallower to keep tangles to a minimum.
This is the time of year when Deep Sea Fishing out of Canaveral can be at its best, and so far, April has been pretty good to us! The shallow reefs are producing great catches of all different species of snappers, trigger fish and sea bass. We’ve got cobia settling on the reefs and wrecks, huge numbers of kingfish for those who like to reserve a stern spot and float line, and the mahi could be showing up big ANY time now.
November is the kick off to prime time Winter bottom fishing. In my opinion we really only have 2 seasons here on the Central East Coast. Flip Flop Season and Flip Flops with Socks Season for those of us still stuck in the 80s. As we start to think about wearing socks the Ocean Obsession Crew gets their mind set on going deep. We have added a extra hour to our Wednesday full day trips until grouper close in January to allow us the option to go deeper on days the current isn’t bad.
