Just back from a very short surf fishing trip to Satellite Beach here in Melbourne. The wind and high seas of the last ten days, or so, has exposed large chunks of coral up and down the beach as far as I could see. After losing two rigs in a short space of time I had to give up. I’ve fished this beach before and never got snagged. We’ll have to wait until the sand comes back and buries everything.

8/28/2019 At Melbourne Beach the water was free of weeds. High surf continues – 3 days now of high surf and 1 1/2 days weed-free.

Yesterday’s high surf continues somewhat abated and could be the reason 95% of the ‘June Weed’ is GONE – so this might not last past Noon Wednesday. But that’s why you check your SPACEFISH reports!

The surf was way up and carving the beach. An hour before and after high tide the weeds didn’t catch so much. Became unfishable after that.

My attempt at up to the minute reporting on seaweed conditions, which would save a fisherman/woman the time to find out for themselves, is being edited out. So be it. Time to find another site.

I was out yesterday, 8/14/19 fishing from the beach and the seaweed was the thickest seen yet.
