Reporting from BEYOND BREVARD and back!

west end Bahamas

I’ve known Chris Delaney for quite a few years, he is a friend and a client of Mount This Fish Company and we often discuss fishing and Mackerel reports. He is a regular competitor in local tournaments and fishes hard. I saw he had travelled to West End Bahamas this past week and I asked him to send me some details. Luckily for me a ghost writer appeared and actually completely wrote out the story for me, Thank You:

The fishing at West End this weekend was not as hot as the weather but the Headhunter fishing team managed a solid catch on an annual trip with the Florida Sport Fishing Association (FSFA) members. Chris, Cassie, Matt and Jennifer Delaney, along with Chuck Burley made the crossing on Thursday June 14th on flat calm seas on a Yamaha powered Competition. During the trip over, fishing birds and debris, they picked up some dolphin and throwback tripletails. After checking customs and into the room at Blue Marlin Cove, they headed out for the evening bite but the current was almost nonexistent which made the fishing pretty slow. The crew managed just a handful of fish but an impressive 3lb 9ounce Strawberry Grouper by Chuck Burley.

Day two consisted on deep dropping for yellow eye snapper. This turned out to be a costly adventure as the crew lost over $100 in lead due to sharks eating the catch on its way up. They still managed to put quite a few on ice. After a rib eye steak dinner, the crew headed back out for the evening bite. When they got anchored up, the current was flowing good. From 6:30 to 9:30pm, the action was pretty continuous with a good number of big Yellowtails (biggest was 4lbs 13oz), Mutton Snapper (biggest was nearly 12lbs), triggerfish, Cero Mackerel, Horse eye Jacks and Cuda’s. They finished up the evening with a 50 fish federal snapper limit and plenty of triggerfish to bring home.

The following morning, Saturday June 16th, they had a good breakfast and packed the boat for a nice flat calm sea trip back home. Looking forward to heading back again before the summer ends. The Headhunter fishing team had a great weekend with some awesome people with the FSFA. Follow them on Instagram @Headhunterfishing for more pics of the trip.
