NSB surf report

This week the magic word has been “current” — strong north to south flow with the cold fronts lining up to move through. But the whiting bite is still on fire in north central Florida, with a few stud pompano around, too. Most have been out further at +100 yards. The best bait has been live sandfleas.

The inlet area has been producing the winter flounder and sheepshead with some nice upper slot sized black drum in the mix. Small live blue crabs, sandfleas and fiddler crabs on a Carolina rig or knocker rig with just enough weight to hold bottom has been working best.
