black drum fishing

We’ve only been out a few days this past week, but on those days the black drum bite has been exceptional. These fish are roaming around in giant schools of 200 to 500 fish. You can find these schooling drum along the Indian River‘s main channel between Cocoa and Scottsmoore. The schools are so big you can see them from a long way away. We’ve been casting Saltwater Assassin “Pimp Daddy” colored 4-inch sea shad on a quarter ounce jig head with a stout hook to get these fish to strike. The trout action has been good on most days as well with Rapala Skitterwalk Plugs accounting for some explosive strikes. If you’re looking for a fun way to spend a morning, jump on board with either Captain Justin Ross or myself, and we’ll go out and get your rod bent.
