king mackerel

A nice king mackerel showing itself on the Seas Fire half day yesterday. Calm seas make for fun fishing.

What a week! The kings finally turned back on again and are firing hard! We’ve been putting some big ones in the boat, too, with a rough average of 18-22 lb. We’ve also had a few as big as 45 lb. As always, live bunker is a great bait of choice, and they are currently all over and easy to net.

Bottom fishing is great. Ajs are on all the typical areas and red snappa are absolutely everywhere. We tried to catch a grouper this week but were inundated by reds, and then, of course, the sharks (good job, whoever’s in charge)… Nearshore shark fishing and tarpon are doing great, too.

It looks like this week is gonna have some great weather in store again, so get out and enjoy some banner fishing!
